Dance

Since Freshman year, I’ve been a part of my school’s dance program. Not only has the class allowed me to grow as a dancer and performer, but it has also provided me with a safe and sacred place at school. Before high school, I had never danced, so the idea of performing in two concerts each year was terrifying. However, through my dance class, I’ve been able to grow more confident while connecting with other students who also have an appreciation for the art form. For me, dance has now become an outlet for expression and empowerment. I have a new-found sense of pride and ownership through choreographing and performing my own pieces onstage.
